I received my Masters Degree from the Department of Communication Studies in 2007 and I have been teaching for the Department of Communication Studies since 2006. Courses I have taught include introduction to communication studies, organizational communication, small group communication, communication theory, persuasion, and conflict management. I have a true passion organizational communication and devote much of my time to learning about and teaching best practices in communication effectiveness within work teams/organizations.
Immediately after graduate school, I took a position as a program specialist for the NSF ADVANCE–PAID grant at NMSU from 2008-2011. This grant disseminated NMSU’s one-on-one faculty mentoring program, department head training program, and faculty promotion and tenure workshops across the state of New Mexico.
Since 2011 I have been in the position of associate director for leadership and mentoring at the NMSU Teaching Academy and continue to coordinate faculty leadership and mentoring programs. I am also a certified mediator and trainer in Crucial Conversations® and I facilitate meetings, workshops, book clubs, and team-building retreats for the Teaching Academy and other units, both within and outside of the university.
When I am not spending time with my family, I enjoy reading, writing, traveling, and watching live music.
